Every year during winter when people ask me what I’m photographing I usually say, “I’m shooting the shutdown of Table Mountain.”
“Huh, Table Mountian shuts down!? ” is the common response.
Table Mountain doesn’t shut down, but the cable cars running up and down do for their annual maintenance. This is when among other things, the cable cars get refurbished, cables get changed and everything needed for a safe operation is checked.
Sinc the winter of 2005 I’ve been commissioned to photograph this annual shutdown – a feat of engineering on a grand scale in a unique environment.
And now it’s a book.
The 18th October 2017 is the official launch date of “Changing The Lines”
